An optimistic realist dropped back into suburban San Jose after 6 years in the Big Apple

What do you wanna do? I dunno, what do you wanna do? Don't ask me, I'm drivin'.

Last night hubby and I attempted to go out on a high school style date...minus having to 'park.' The general plan was dinner and a movie...We started by attempting to go to a 'nicer' restaurant, which in San Jose/Milpitas was Giorgio's, but after seeing the wait I successfully convinced Hubby to go to In n Out for a Double Double. I don't think any carnivore/omnivore can argue that DoubleDoubles aren't dayum good, but I haven't been to a fast food joint at night in ages and was a little disturbed by how freaky that super bright fluorescent lighting looks at night - it always looks so inviting after hours of driving on highway 5 to LA. That was less disturbing than the woman who decided that it was a good idea to change her baby's diaper on one of the dining tables. I don't think I'll ever go for a stray fry again. Trying to be spontaneous, we tried to catch a movie (without having previously consulted listings), but found that we were in that awkward in-between time between showings. Right, that's why it's good to check first... Driving around, we reminisced about those teenage nights with friends driving around trying to decide what to do, which occasionally ended up being nothing but driving, everyone losing their gusto, and going home for the night. Then when your parents ask what you did, you mutter 'Nuthin...' while you sulk away to your room. We ended up watching Grizzly Man at home. Really good, but that guy was way more nutty than I ever expected-interesting portrait.

Speaking of that doubledouble, I thought I'd share some of my guilty pleasures in light of all the healthiness out there...I rarely eat this stuff nowadays but they are SO good! In no particular order:

1. In n Out burger: double double
2. KFC : original recipe dark meat
3. Popeye's: mash & red beans with rice
4. MickeyD's: french fries & chicken nuggets
5. Chilis: chicken crispers
6. Round Table: Italian garlic supreme (is this really bad for you?)
7. King Egg Roll off Berryessa Road in San Jose
8. Bubble Tea from Fantasia or any of those bubble chains
9. Ramen (yes, no nutritional value at all!)
10. Hostess hohos (don't think I've had this in yeeears)

Come on, you know you have those guilty pleasures that you hope nobody sees you eat. I showed you mine, now show me yours!

Ok now back to working on my portfolio, which I should be doing instead of blogging. bad girl!

My husband can tell you that I'm a Taco Bell fanatic...he snuck The Bell into a fancy spa for me on my birthday. That's when I knew it was love...

I also enjoy Mac N Cheese, cake (even the cheap kind), and hot dogs.

I have terrible taste in food.
